I Always Forget Something

I’m wiped, pooped, dead on my feet, exhausted; I could go on, and on.  Today was First Born’s 7th birthday party.  Right now First Born and two of his friends are watching Zathura.  They are spending the night.  So officially it is now the slumber part of the party.  At one point I had 10 kids age ranging from 4 months to 9 years old.  We had an egg relay, only one egg broke.  We then followed up with a water balloon toss contest capped off with a water balloon fight.

I made the mistake of letting First Born open his presents before the food so it was a bit of a challenge to get them to eat but they did eat pizza and cake.  We then made our own ice cream, which was a fun activity that First Born learned at PEP.  Next came the silly string fight which was fun, fun, fun!

At one point we lost one kid. They were playing hide and seek and she decided to hide in my closet.  The kids or I didn’t think to look in my room.  We were just about ready to call her mom when she came out of the room.  It felt like a close call.

I forgot to pass out the goody bags, the "prizes" for the races and the ice cream that kids put in the freezer;  but, since there were no bloody noses, black eyes or prolonged crying, I’d say it was a pretty successful party.  I'll post pictures soon!

Recipe for Ice Cream activity:

In a small baggie put ¼ cup of milk, 1 tablespoon sugar and ¼ teaspoon of flavoring (vanilla, chocolate syrup etc.) place in gallon size baggy filled with 6 cups crushed ice and 6 tablespoons of rock salt.  Seal and shake for a long time. The longer you shake the creamier it gets.

  2. Good for you for surviving all of that! That ice cream activity seems super fun.
