What’s My Job??

Filed under: parenting — by mommygoingcrazy @ 10:57 pm

Everyday J-boy gets in the car and is excited about what job he had at school.  He loudly tells me what the job is. Some jobs are self explanatory: flag holder, line leader etc.  Some I need definitions: rainstick holder, office assistant.  He is always ready and excited about sharing his job description with me.

There are about 7 jobs and more will be added as his class grows in size.  This causes a bit of a dilemma for  The Husband.  J-boy insists that The Husband guess what job J-boy had at school that day.  The Husband tries to guess.  He goes through the list of which jobs he knows that he could have been but alas there always seems to be a new one.   No mater how many times The Husband guess he isn’t allowed to give up.  Eventually I step in and give a clue or whisper the answer to him.  J-boy is always amazed that The Husband got the answer right.

Today J-boy was really into the guessing game.  The Husband went through all the different jobs that J-boy has talked about. Unfortunately, it was the first time J-boy had had this job After The Husband exhausted the list J-boy gave The Husband some clues: it has a desk and paper.   I came in and added two more clues: an assistant and secretary.  The Husband figured it out; J-boy was the office assistant today.  When The Husband guessed right J-boy said in a sing-song voice “You got it!”.

Keep him home?

First Born woke up with a cough this morning.  He had an enormous headache yesterday.  There was no fever, vomit or runny poo.  We decided to keep him home because his chest hurt.  Of course the cough was just a morning, clear the lungs, phlegmy thing.  How do I know this?  Because he hasn’t coughed for an hour or so.

It is so  hard to figure out is a true sick thing that you need to keep them home for.  My mother’s rule about staying home sick is if we had a fever, vomit or diarrhea.  For me it’s a little more than that.   If he is coughing up a lung or has a sore throat and can’t swallow I keep him home.  If his nose is running clear and he has a nagging cough he goes to school.  Green snot, he is staying home and going to the doctor.

Next week I’m sure one of the kiddos will have a new cold symptom that I don’t know what to do with. Then The Husband and I are going to look at each other and say “should he go to school?” When in doubt keep them out?  Who knows. I do know if  he wakes up coughing tomorrow morning he will be going to school.  Well, that is if he keeps food down and doesn’t start with the fever.

Pretty Toes

Filed under: uncategorized — by mommygoingcrazy @ 11:11 pm

Today neighbor mom called me on my cell phone and asked if I wanted to go with her to get a pedicure.  With The Husband happily agreeing to watch the kiddos (one was napping, one was next door, one was playing on the computer and the other was Baby Boy) I said sure.

This was my first pedicure.  Climbing up into that chair was a bit awkward.  I was afraid that I was going to fall into the whirlpool.  Luckily I made it and hopefully didn’t look to much of an idiot.  Then they lady pointed at the water and I stuck my poor little feet in.  Oh, my gosh it was hot but felt great.  I thought I was in Nirvana when the lady then turned on my chair.  Ooh, massage, good.  I almost fell asleep.

I hadn’t planned on this little outing so it was a little weired having someone massage my lower legs when I hadn’t shaved for a couple of days.  I quickly forgot my discomfort as she massaged the care out of my calves and feet.  She filed, buffed, clipped and oiled my feet all in preparation for my pretty red nail polish.

My feet look really pretty and Princess Girl thought my toes were cool.  Now I need to find some open toe sandals so everyone can share in the glory of my red toes.  I can’t wait to do it again.

“Max and Ruby, Ruby and Max”

The other day the kiddos and I went to the library (sans First Born).  When we walked in Princess Girl saw Max’s ABC by Rosemary Wells.  I hadn’t actually read any of the Max and Ruby books so I cringed when she picked it up off the new books shelf.  That night I read it and it was pretty good.  Even though it is an ABC book the story line was good and not as forced as some.  I absolutely loved it when Ruby Vacuumed up some troublesome ants.  I don’t want to ruin the end for you though so you’ll have to read the book to see what happens to the ants.

The only problem as I read the book I hear Ruby’s condescending voice in my head.  The cartoon drives me nuts! If you have ever seen it you know what I mean, if you haven’t don’t watch!  It might ruin the books for you forever! 🙂  Though the kiddos love the show.  I think it is because Max usually always ‘wins’ over his bossy overbearing big sister.  Also, Max is really patient with Ruby and doesn’t hit, bite or throw things at her.  To be fair I do have to say Ruby is also patient with her tenacious little brother.  Both set good examples of how to deal with siblings.

No, I’m not talking about writers block.  The Husband blocked my name from his messenger!  Why you ask?  I’ll tell you why.  J-boy is harassing his Daddy at work.  I made the mistake thinking oh, let J-boy chat to Daddy at work.  I’d help him find the keys and write little messages.  Usually ending up asking to go to McDonald’s.

Then J-boy found the emoticons and had to include one every time. Innocent enough except some of them pop up in front of The Husband’s work which is distracting.  Still The Husband persevered.

Then if I kept the dialogue box open J-boy would write to Daddy without my knowledge.  Basically the messages looked like this: adjfioadf difojadasidfj 🙂 <kiss>, etc.  So I closed the box.   J-boy figured out how to open it back up.  So I then closed the messenger.  However, he found it in the start up tray and opened it back up.  Then I thought, well I’ll just have to close it off completely.  Damn it all if that boy didn’t find it and open it again.

After getting several lines of babble, three invites to play games on line and a nudge  The Husband took things into his own hands and blocked me, his own wife.  Can I blame him? Not really.  I know who I can blame for getting me blak listed…that tech savvy 4 year old!  See if he gets to go to McDonald’s’ anytime soon.
